Lucille Honig

A Memorial Tribute

Lucille was President of Cupertino Toyokawa Sister Cities Organization from 1985 to 2010.

Lucille and Rod’s daughter, Barbara, was one of the middle school students to participate in the first student delegation exchange to Toyokawa, Japan in June, 1984.

Always dependable and very organized, Lucille was extremely dedicated to volunteering for the Cupertino Toyokawa Sister Cities Organization. She also volunteered for a number of other community activities.

Lucille received a CREST Award (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken) in 1995 from the city of Cupertino. This award is given to recognize outstanding community volunteers.

Sister City President Lucille Honig and Cupertino City Council Member Dolly Sandoval unveiled the Cupertino Morion helmet sculpture in the Toyokawa Civic Center in 2003. The morion was the 25th anniversary gift to Toyokawa from the city of Cupertino.

Lucille accepted a special Friendship Commendation to the Cupertino Toyokawa Sister Cities Organization from Toyokawa Mayor Minoru Yamawaki on July 11, 2008.

The Cupertino Toyokawa Sister Cities Organization honors our friend, Lucille Honig, for her years of volunteering and her leadership. Lucille laid the foundation and grew the committee programs into what they are today, leaving a lasting legacy in our community.
